In the past period Mattmo have been focussing on creative China. A number of inspiring visits to Shanghai and Beijing with overwhelming impressions and great inspiration. In China we spoke to lots of people from the cultural field. From artists to governmental organisations, with architects, designers and publishers, fashion designer, film directors, curators and leading art academies. We also did a lecture at the famous Tongji University.

:: Building Bridges
Our plan is to build a bridge between Chinese and Dutch culture by bringing together Chinese and Dutch high level design and creativity, thus making a first step in collaboration and knowledge sharing. It is our intention to initiate collaboration between contemporary designers of all design disciplines, from architecture, film, fashion and industrial design to ceramics.

:: Dutch Room
The first visual and concrete results of this collaboration will be exhibited at a 'Dutch Room' exhibition in Shanghai. In its periphery lectures and workshops will be held. The event brings together designers, art academies and all other parties in the cultural field as well as the local and international business community.
For organising the event Mattmo already joined forces with BizArt from Shanghai. BizArt is a self-supported and not-for-profit art centre that combines artistic and commercial pursuits with the ultimate goal of advancing contemporary art in Shanghai and beyond.
